The 2006-2007 season, which opens in November and runs through May, includes Annie, Alexander Who's Not, Not, Not, Not, Not, Not Going to Move, and Sleeping Beauty. Also, new this season, TYKEs will partner with the Missoula Children's Theater to bring to its stage, Robin Hood. This musical will be cast entirely with children, grades K-12, and the show will be well-rehearsed and ready for performance in just one week! Children will come to an audition on Dec. 11 at 4:00 p.m. and if cast, will rehearse all that week culminating in three performances that weekend! TYKEs' Performances are held at the beautiful School of the Arts; 45 Prince Street in downtown Rochester. Tickets are $10 each; subscriptions are also available at discounted rates. For more information or for a season brochure, call the TYKEs Box Office at (585) 723-6080 or visit us at: www.tykestheatre.org.

First in TYKEs' 2006-2007 Season is the blockbuster musical, Annie. "Leapin' Lizards!" The comic strip heroine takes center stage in one of the world's best-loved musicals. Annie is a spunky orphan determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by cranky Miss Hannigan. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan's schemes, befriends President Franklin Roosevelt and finds a loving new family with billionaire Oliver Warbucks and a lovable dog named Sandy. With its upbeat ending, extraordinary music, and fabulous characters - including local children as the orphans - it's no wonder this heartwarming show has become an international sensation. Recommended for ages 5 and up, Annie warms your heart November 4 & 5, 2006.

Next up in TYKEs' season is a truly incredible concept in children's theatre – a show IN A WEEK! Robin Hood, a full-scale musical - complete with costumes, sets, make-up and props - will star 50 to 60 local kids grades K-12! TYKEs is partnering with the Missoula Children's Theatre, a troupe that has been touring for more than 30 years, visiting nearly 1100 communities annually in all 50 states, Canada and overseas. Their mission is the development of children's life skills, creativity, social/communications skills and self-esteem ¬through participation in this unique, educational project. The Missoula team of professional directors comes to town with everything necessary to put on a play - except the cast. On Monday, December 11, come to an open-group audition for a role (4 to 6 p.m. - children must attend both hours, followed by rehearsal until 8:30 p.m. at School of the Arts for those who are cast).

Children will be well rehearsed throughout the week (Dec. 12 - 15 from 4 to 8:30 p.m.), learning lines, songs and choreography to perform as an ensemble in three performances that weekend. For children cast in Robin Hood, the cost is $175 to participate in the week-long experience (includes one free show ticket). Cast with children grades K-12, your child can be the star of the show Dec. 11-16, 2006.

Third in the 2006-2007 Season is the musical, Alexander, Who's Not, Not, Not, Not, Not, Not Going to Move (a sequel to Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day), written by and based on the popular books by Judith Viorst. Alexander's dad has taken a job far away, so the family must move to a whole new city. Alexander already knows that he'll hate it because he'll never have a best friend like Paul again. And he'll never have a great sitter like Rachel again. And he'll never have his soccer team or kids who know him or... Anyway, he can't bear to leave the people and places he loves, so he refuses to move. After he tries to live with neighbors, build a tent and barricade his bedroom door, his family finds special ways to make it easier for him to leave, and help him to understand that home is “where your family is, where you're with the people who love you best of all.” Finally Alexander agrees to leave, but warns that (he means it!) he's not, not, not, not, not, not going to move again! Recommended for ages 4 and up, help Alexander pack his bags on March 24, 25 & 31, 2007.

The final show of TYKEs' 3rd Season is the classic fairy tale (with a modern twist!), Sleeping Beauty. Once upon a time, two magical sisters watched over a land far away. The sisters, Branwen and Modron, vied for the life of Briar Rose, an innocent child found in the woods. Branwen gave the baby to the King and Queen who could not have a child of their own, but Modron vowed that Briar Rose shall prick her finger on a spindle and die before her 16th birthday! Branwen was able to grant the family a reprieve; instead of death, Briar Rose would fall into a 100-year sleep. Only the touch of true love's kiss can break the spell. Despite the diligence of Rose's comical companion Gryff – who's half man and half dragon - Rose still fell prey to the hex, and only the hapless Prince Owain could save her. Owain timidly embarked on the quest to conquer the Spider King and enchanted fairies. But does he have the courage to vanquish Modron herself? We guarantee you'll LOVE finding out in this musical adventure! Recommended for ages 4 and up, allow yourself to be enchanted on May 12, 19 & 20, 2007.
